International Nurses Day – 12th May 2022

Nurses are the heart of healthcare and the backbone to the healthcare systems 

Today is “International Nurses Day” with the theme “Nurses: A Voice to Lead – Invest in nursing and respect rights to secure global health.”  

As a network of frontline health providers and facilities in sub-Saharan Africa, working to effect positive change. Nurses are at the centre of the response, often leading prevention, treatment, and care services.  Inequalities in HIV healthcare continue to exist, and we must invest in nursing, to restore, transform and strengthen health access for all.  

Let’s celebrate nurses and acknowledge their tireless contribution and advocate more strongly for more nurse jobs, safer working conditions,  where health and mental wellbeing is better supported and where those on the frontline are provided the necessary tools, opportunities, and voice to lead!
