CHAI HIV Market Impact Memo
The memo highlights the significant risks CHAI are seeing in access to lifesaving commodities for people living with and at risk of HIV. After years of working hand-in-hand across governments, communities, donors, manufacturers, researchers, implementing partners, and many others to scale access to testing, treatment, and prevention and strengthen global markets, the remarkable progress made together is now in peril. Beyond commodities, service delivery constraints and human resource shortages threaten the ability of national programs to ensure that essential HIV products reach those who need them most.
Critical commodity gaps across the cascade based on CHAI-collected data across 14 countries, including:
- 4 countries at risk of stockout of oral PrEP alongside extensive service delivery disruptions, with CAB-LA introduction severely disrupted
- 10 countries at risk of stockout of EID commodities
- 8 countries at risk of stockout of adult or pediatric ARVs, with ongoing introduction of pALD in jeopardy
- 10 countries at risk of stockout of AHD commodities
- 13 countries at risk of stockout of viral load commodities
- US$55M worth of stock currently in supplier warehouses at risk of cancellation or non-payment, posing a significant risk to business operations, cash flows, and return on investment
