IMPAACT4HIV (I4HIV)

IMPAACT4HIV (I4HIV) is a Unitaid-funded consortium led by the Aurum Institute that works to simplify and expand care for Advanced HIV Disease (AHD). The project strengthens access to diagnosis, prevention, and treatment tools, while testing innovative service delivery models for those living with HIV, especially children.

By generating operational evidence and scaling optimised care packages, I4HIV supports decentralisation and simplification of AHD management to reduce mortality and improve health outcomes across high-burden countries in sub-Saharan Africa.

Strategic community partners in South Africa, Nigeria, Côte d’Ivoire, and Mozambique play an important role in engaging governments, health authorities, and policymakers, and implementing partners to invest in resources and prioritise AHD care and services for children as a public health emergency.

Communities are at the centre of the response, helping to raise awareness, link children to early testing and treatment, and support their continued engagement with care.

Simplify and expand AHD care
By prioritising prevention and care for management of AHD in children, we can significantly improve their health, reduce mortality, and work towards ending AIDS in children by 2030.

PATA’s role in the consortium is to engage communities through civil society representatives and Community Led Organisations (CLO)s to optimize the delivery design and methods through engaging key stakeholders, including communities and civil society. To raise awareness and generate demand for optimized AHD packages of care. A core component of the project is the PATA’s Clinic–Community Collaboration (C3) model, which fosters strong partnerships and coordination between clinics and communities to improve AHD service delivery and ensure children receive timely, comprehensive, and compassionate care.
